Budget 2018 carves a new path to shared prosperity for everyone in the province with a made-in-B.C. child-care plan, a comprehensive housing plan and record levels of capital investment in every corner of the province, Finance Minister Carole James announced today.

Saying it’s time to build a safe, reliable crossing for thousands of daily commuters, Premier John Horgan has announced that the B.C. government is moving forward with the construction of a $1.377-billion bridge to replace the aging Pattullo Bridge.

Historic investments in housing and child care are at the heart of the speech from the throne, which focused on making life more affordable, creating more opportunity for people and a brighter future for British Columbia.

Promoting opportunities for British Columbia-China collaboration in wood construction, tourism and energy was the focus of Premier John Horgan’s visit to Beijing, which also included a wood and green-building policy forum.

The British Columbia government will complete construction of the Site C hydroelectric dam, saying that to do otherwise would put British Columbians on the hook for an immediate and unavoidable $4-billion bill – with nothing in return – resulting in rate hikes or reduced funds for schools, hospitals and important infrastructure.
