Skilled tradespeople in British Columbia will benefit from a made-in-B.C. system to support and train apprentices.

The Province is launching a bold, new long-term economic plan that moves British Columbia forward by tackling the challenges of today while growing an economy that works for more people and families.

New legislation to establish a made-in-B.C. system to support and train apprentices and modernize the Crown agency responsible for trades training has been introduced in the legislature.

People looking to start or complete an apprenticeship in the trades will have more training seats and supports as British Columbia prepares to implement skilled trades certification.

Hundreds of tradespeople and employers have shared their insights about how the Province can implement skilled trades certification to support higher-paying, more stable employment.  

People looking to build careers in child care will have more educational opportunities with the addition of 147 early childhood educator (ECE) seats at eight public post-secondary institutions throughout the province.

Students throughout B.C. will gain the hands-on skills they need, thanks to new technology and trades equipment upgrades at 20 post-secondary institutions.

With growing demand for engineering and computer science programs, the Province and the University of Victoria (UVic) are building new state-of-the-art learning facilities and expanding programs.
