Advanced Education Minister Andrew Wilkinson has made the following statement in recognition of the 90th anniversary of Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Adult literacy programs in 75 communities throughout the province will receive $2.4 million in 2015-16 to provide more British Columbians with the literacy skills they need to take part in the growing economy.

One-time funding of $2.1 million will go toward startup and program-delivery costs of the Emily Carr Centre for Design Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Wood Innovation and Design Centre (WIDC).

For the first time on a British Columbia public post-secondary campus, work camp-style housing will be used to help meet the growing demand for student residences, providing valuable learning opportunities at the same time.
