Following the flooding in November 2021, the Province is making significant changes to ensure more people, communities and businesses can access and receive increased benefits from British Columbia’s Disaster Financial Assistance program.

Restaurants, bars and liquor manufacturers have more time to apply to make temporary service areas permanent as they recover from the pandemic.

With recovery efforts still underway in communities affected by severe flooding and highways damaged by flooding and mudslides, the Province is extending the provincial state of emergency.

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) is now available for eligible British Columbians in southwest, central and southeast areas of the province and Vancouver Island who were affected by flooding and landslides from Nov. 14-16, 2021.

The Government of British Columbia has extended the provincial state of emergency through the end of the day on Aug. 31, 2021, to support the ongoing co-ordinated response to the wildfire situation and to ensure public safety.

ICBC will issue a second COVID-19 rebate in recognition of lower claims costs due to fewer crashes during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A new ICBC fairness officer will focus on ensuring the corporation’s decisions, actions and practices are transparent and fair, while further strengthening public trust in ICBC as dedicated to caring for people who are injured in a crash and providing affordable auto insurance coverage.
