The Province is taking action against hate-motivated violence in British Columbia by supporting community organizations throughout the province and by providing resources to individuals.

Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, has released the following statement about the Civil Forfeiture Office’s (CFO) demolition of the Hells Angels’ clubhouse in Nanaimo:

Four community leaders and one community organization have been honoured for their work supporting crime prevention and community safety initiatives addressing gender-based violence, advocacy and restorative justice.

Stable funding for sexual assault programs, as well as the establishment of new policing standards for responding to sexual assaults, will respect and support the diverse needs of survivors and ensure more effective investigations.

The Province is helping keep people safe by creating hubs of police, dedicated prosecutors and probation officers focused on tackling repeat violent offending in every region of the province.

Three community leaders and two community organizations have been recognized for their work supporting crime prevention and community safety, with a focus on transformative Indigenous-led approaches.                                                       

Strengthening support and capacity for the Tŝilhqot’in National Government and its communities to be true partners and leaders in emergency management is the foundation of the renewed five-year tripartite Collaborative Emergency Management Agreement (CEMA).

Six communities throughout southwestern B.C. have been approved to receive their share of more than $8.5 million in provincial emergency preparedness funding.
