Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, have issued the following statement:

As heavy snowfall is forecast across southwestern B.C., now is the time for British Columbians to prepare for cold temperatures, power outages and slick streets.  

With multiple highways still damaged by flooding and mudslides, the Province is extending the provincial state of emergency.

As more winter weather rolls in provincewide, now is the time for British Columbians to prepare for extremely cold temperatures, power outages and slick streets.  

Mike Farnworth, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, has released the following statement to thank the Canadian Armed Forces and provinces that provided assistance with flood response in British Columbia over the past month:

Effective today, the Canadian Red Cross is providing continued Emergency Support Services (ESS) to evacuees impacted by the recent floods and extreme weather in British Columbia.

With recovery efforts still underway in communities affected by severe flooding and highways damaged by flooding and mudslides, the Province is extending the provincial state of emergency.

A strong winter storm is forecast to affect many parts of B.C. from Friday through to Sunday.

An increasingly toxic and volatile illicit drug supply has claimed at least 201 lives in October and 1,782 lives in the first 10 months of 2021, according to the latest preliminary data released by the BC Coroners Service.

The Province is immediately providing a $1-million grant to support the Village of Lytton in its economic recovery from the devastation caused by this year’s wildfire.
