Many people spending the holidays in Metro Vancouver-area shelters will sleep a little more soundly, thanks to “elves” at the local North Fraser Pretrial Centre (NFPC).

Communities throughout British Columbia will receive approximately $2 million in provincial emergency preparedness funding to support emergency social services.

More than 370 combined years of dedication to the safety of British Columbia’s communities have earned 17 provincial corrections staff national recognition.

Provincial awards have been presented to four community leaders and a police officer to acknowledge their contributions to community safety, healing and prevention of victimization in British Columbia.

Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) application dates for the recent landslide disaster have been expanded and are now available for British Columbians in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District – including Cache Creek, Village of Ashcroft and Bonaparte Indian Band – who may have been affected by landslides that occurred from Aug. 2-12, 2018.

The Province is funding new, collaborative interventions that will help connect vulnerable people to the services and support they need.

With the flood situation in many parts of the province beginning to stabilize, the Government of British Columbia has amended its request for federal assistance to support B.C.’s response to flooding.
