The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is in the process of identifying property necessary for future infrastructure improvements on Highway 99 near the George Massey Tunnel, as an initial step while the business case for the new crossing is being completed.

Highway 99, between the Steveston Highway and Highway 17 junctions (on either side of the George Massey Tunnel), will be resurfaced with new line painting to improve safety along the busy corridor.

Drivers are advised that two lanes, one in each direction, will be closed nightly beginning Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019.

Richmond will receive $586,250 in BikeBC funding this year for the River Drive multi-use pathway.

The Government of British Columbia has released the report summarizing Phase 3 of consultations on the George Massey Tunnel Replacement Project, confirming strong public support for capacity improvements to address congestion, the proposed interchange improvements, and the transit, cycling and pedestrian measures to encourage greener  transportation choices.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is providing $6 million in BikeBC funding to communities this year to enhance and expand cycling infrastructure such as bike lanes, multi-use paths and trails, and cycling/pedestrian bridges.

Work will get underway this November to lengthen the northbound Steveston off-ramp on Highway 99, which will improve the flow of traffic exiting the Massey Tunnel northbound.
