The Province is upgrading regional airports to help support economic development, improve aviation services and safety, and enhance access to B.C.’s rural and remote communities.

Upgrades and enhancements to key highway rest areas are planned for the summer as part of a multi-year plan to improve safety, accessibility and other amenities along B.C.’s highways.

Rehabilitation of the Chemainus River bridges on Highway 1 will improve safety for more than 27,000 drivers that cross the bridges every day.

Crews in northern B.C. will be busy during summer 2023 as they work on paving projects that cover nearly 300 kilometres of highways and sideroads.

Work has begun on upgrades for more than 157 kilometres of highways on Vancouver Island, renewing driving surfaces for travellers and the movement of goods.

The Province is helping improve access to Steveston Harbour by supporting dredging that will maintain the Cannery Channel approach to the harbour, the largest commercial fishing harbour in Canada.
