The B.C. government is taking action to lower fare increases for people who rely upon B.C.’s coastal ferry service through $500 million in new funding for BC Ferries.

People living on the Sunshine Coast can provide input on long-term solutions to improve travel on the Highway 101 corridor between Sechelt and Gibsons, with public consultation underway on the Highway 101 Alternate Route Planning Study.

Highway 1 will reopen through the Fraser Valley between Chilliwack and Abbotsford at 2 p.m. (Pacific time), Thursday, Nov. 25, following cleanup, repairs and geotechnical assessments of the highway and its structures.

The Illecillewaet four-laning and brake-check project is completed, significantly improving safety for people who travel along this section of Highway 1.

Students in grades 4 and 5 will learn biking skills and safety awareness at participating schools in Greater Victoria and along the South Coast as the fall session of Everyone Rides Grades 4-5 gets underway.
