Ravi Parmar, Minister of Forests, has provided the following statement about extending the engagement process for modernizing the Heritage Conservation Act in B.C.:

The Province is improving the permitting process for the natural-resource sector, and members of the public are invited to provide feedback on proposals related to water management.

The public is invited to comment on proposed ministerial orders to implement the Gwa’ni land-use plan.

People are invited to share their input to help guide the development of the Xwulqw’selu (Koksilah) Water and Watershed Sustainability Plan (the Plan) and shape long-term solutions for water supply and ecosystem health.

As severe drought conditions continue to affect river levels in the Thompson Okanagan region, fish-population protection orders will protect endangered chinook salmon in the Salmon River and Bessette Creek by temporarily restricting water use for forage crops and identified industrial purposes.

Randene Neill, Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, has released the following statement after the annual meeting of the Canadian Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers (CCFAM) in Iqaluit, Nunavut, on August 28 and 29, 2025:

The Province urges people on the south coast to use caution over the next several days, particularly in the backcountry, as moderate to heavy rain is forecast to start the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 15, 2025.

Recreational freshwater anglers will soon be able to buy B.C. freshwater fishing licences through the Wildlife Information and Licensing Data system (WILD), bringing fishing and hunting licensing into one convenient online platform.

The Province, in collaboration with partner First Nations, has protected 1,450 hectares of critical ecosystems in the Great Bear Sea.

The Province is urging people in British Columbia to conserve water over the coming weeks as forecasts suggest much of the province will experience elevated drought conditions.
