With the completion of temporary repairs to the Highway 17A crossing over Highway 99, southbound travel across the structure has been reinstated using the northbound HOV/transit lane.

Commercial vehicle operators will have tools to support safer travel this summer, as mandated use of electronic logging devices (ELDs) will come into effect throughout the province on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023.

Work has begun on replacing two bridges on Highway 3 in the East Kootenays to improve safety and reliability, and deal with rising traffic volumes. 

As the Canada Day long weekend approaches, the Province encourages travellers to stay safe on the road by planning ahead and using extra caution.
