The Province is working with the City of Abbotsford, BC Housing and local service providers to transition people living at the encampment at Lonzo Road and Sumas Way into safe indoor spaces to address health and safety concerns.

The Province’s Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) is offering real-time interpretation services in more than 200 languages for dispute resolution and other information.

The Province, through BC Housing, is in the process of purchasing the Super 8 hotel in Courtenay to ensure residents of the Travelodge are not left without housing when that lease expires in late June 2023.

Newcomers, including international students and foreign workers, will soon receive enhanced supports to help them thrive in their new communities as they contribute to B.C.’s economy.

People will get a say in how future buildings are constructed in B.C., including cooling requirements and accessibility standards, as the Province launches a survey on proposed changes to the BC Building Code.
