VANCOUVER unceded Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) homelands – More people in B.C. will soon have a historic level of access to legal aid services, including legal representation through a new family law clinic model and a significant expansion of legal aid eligibility criteria.

Community organizations are invited to apply for annual grants that support projects that tackle racial inequity and foster inter-cultural understanding in B.C.

Racialized people can now share their perspectives in culturally safe spaces as 68 organizations across B.C. receive more than $300,000 to engage community members on the development of new anti-racism legislation.

Everyone living in B.C. is encouraged to take the BC Demographic Survey to help identify systemic racism in government services.

The Province takes another step improving access to government programs and services for Indigenous Peoples and racialized communities, with the release of 12 priorities for anti-racism research.

To help more low-income women and gender-diverse people access the free legal services they need to keep their families safe and healthy, the Province is providing $1 million in funding to Rise Women’s Legal Centre.

Proposed amendments to the Family Law Act will clarify the law around pets, property and pensions to better meet the modern-day needs of separating couples. 

As many as 50 women will be able to train for jobs in the truck-driving industry in the Lower Mainland through a new Community and Employer Partnerships (CEP) project funded by the Province.
