British Columbia intends to enact legislation that recognizes the Haida Nation’s Aboriginal title throughout Haida Gwaii, effective on Friday, July 5, 2024.

New members of B.C.’s Climate Solutions Council will support the Province’s work to transition to a clean economy with good, sustainable jobs for British Columbians.

The legislation that recognizes the Haida Nation’s Aboriginal title throughout Haida Gwaii received royal assent in the B.C. legislature on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The final legislative session for the 42nd parliament delivered action to help people in B.C. with new laws and measures aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures, delivering more homes for people with middle incomes and improving public health care.

B.C. students with disabilities and diverse abilities will benefit from a second outreach team that provides professional learning support for students throughout the province.

More than 580 new affordable homes are on the way for renters living in Interior and northern B.C., through partnerships between the Province and local non-profit housing providers.

First Nation Elders, seniors and workers from Old Massett and Masset villages will soon have access to 12 renovated homes following the Province’s purchase, through BC Housing, of 1545 Wallace St.
