The Cheam First Nation and BC Parks are celebrating the Cheam First Nation’s recent appointment as the Park Board for Ferry Island Provincial Park, in the Fraser Valley.

The Fintry Manor House, which is a key part of the unique history of the heritage site at Fintry Provincial Park and Protected Area, is being preserved for future generations, thanks to a boost of more than $1.5 million by the Province.

Effective at noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, the current Category 2 and Category 3 open burning prohibitions will be rescinded throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Visitors to the Ancient Forest/Chun T'oh Whudujut Park are advised that closures of the parking lot and Universal Boardwalk and Trail will continue until Friday, Oct. 21, as the ministry completes highway intersection improvements and parking lot upgrades to increase the safety and accessibility of the new park.

Drivers along Highway 16 and visitors to the Ancient Forest/Chun T’oh Whudujut Park are advised that there will be additional closures of the parking lot and Universal Boardwalk and Trail for September and early October, as the Province continues highway intersection improvements and parking lot upgrades to increase the safety and accessibility of the new park.

Visitors can start planning their trips to two popular BC Parks destinations even earlier this year as bookings for the world-renowned Berg Lake trail and Bowron Lake canoe circuit open soon.

Effective at noon on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, Category 3 open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The BC Wildfire Service will be conducting a series of prescribed fuel management burns in the Selkirk Heights area (near Golden) from Sept. 7-9, 2016, if site and weather conditions are favourable.
