Effective at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, campfires will once again be permitted in the Campbell River Natural Resource District, within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Crews from the BC Wildfire Service are responding to a wildfire near Skutz Falls Road about 10 kilometres east of Cowichan Lake.

The Misty Isles Economic Development Society (MIEDS) is promoting fresh local products from Haida Gwaii with a new logo. The Buy Local program is providing MIEDS $5,225 to launch the branding project.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, campfires will once again be permitted in the North Island-Central Coast Natural Resource District within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, campfires will once again be permitted in Haida Gwaii and the area known as the “Fog Zone” within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to cover all areas within the fire centre's jurisdiction, including the "Fog Zone" to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

With weather conditions expected to remain warm and dry, water users in the South Coast and Lower Fraser regions are being urged to reduce water consumption.

Effective at noon on Thursday, July 2, 2015, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to include all areas within the fire centrs's jurisdiction, with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the "Fog Zone".

Effective at noon on Saturday, June 27, 2015 within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, campfires will only be allowed on northern Vancouver Island, the mid-coast portion of the mainland and on Haida Gwaii.

Smoke from a wildfire in the Elaho Valley, located 67 kilometres west of Pemberton, is drifting into the Squamish/Pemberton valley.
