Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, all open fires will be permitted across the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Aug. 28, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

Weather conditions are forcing smoke from wildfires in the interior of British Columbia to the coast, producing smoky skies on northern Vancouver Island and the mainland's central coast.

Parents and families in several B.C. communities will soon be able to connect to early learning, health and family services in one convenient location.

New mobile radio channels for forestry workers and other resource road users will take effect beginning Aug. 23, 2014, on Vancouver Island and parts of the South Coast.

The Nahatlatch Forest Service Road at the west end of Nahatlatch Lake will stay closed until further notice to help protect public safety and give unhindered access to wildfire crews.

Effective at noon on July 23, 2014, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on July 17, 2014, all open burning (including campfires, Category 2 open fires and Category 3 open fires) will be prohibited in all areas of the Coastal Fire Centre except the "fog zone" and Haida Gwaii.
