The Northwest Fire Centre has issued an area restriction order for areas surrounding the China Nose fire, currently burning about 15 km southeast of Houston, effective 6:00 p.m. Aug. 14.

Effective at 4 p.m. on Aug. 12, 2014, campfires and open burning will be prohibited in some areas of the Northwest Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Interested members of the public are invited to complete an online survey about off-road vehicle use in the Thompson Rivers Natural Resource District until Sept. 7, 2014.

An Area Restriction Order is in effect immediately for areas near the White Tail Brook fire, approximately 10 kilometres east of the village of Canal Flats.

Effective at noon on Friday, July 25, 2014, campfires will once again be permitted in the Cariboo Fire Centre east of the Fraser River.

Effective at noon on July 23, 2014, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on July 17, 2014, all open burning (including campfires, Category 2 open fires and Category 3 open fires) will be prohibited in all areas of the Coastal Fire Centre except the "fog zone" and Haida Gwaii.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, the Cariboo Fire Centre will expand its campfire prohibition across the entire Cariboo Fire Centre.

Effective at 4 p.m. on July 17, 2014, campfires and open burning will be prohibited in some portions of the Northwest Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 16, all campfires will be prohibited throughout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre.
