Local governments are receiving a $1-billion boost through one-time funding to address the needs of their growing communities.

Anne Kang, Minister of Municipal Affairs, has released the following statement in response to the one-year anniversary of the war in Ukraine:

Seniors, individuals and families, including people living with disabilities, have a place they can call home now that 130 new affordable rental and supportive homes are open in Langford and Victoria.

People will have better access to health and safety services, recreational opportunities and social programs in their communities as Community Gaming Grants will help not-for-profit organizations buy equipment and build or renovate their facilities.

The Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, 2023 (Bill 6) was introduced in the legislative chamber on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023.

One billion dollars in new grants will be going to local governments in B.C. to help build community infrastructure and amenities to meet the demands of unprecedented population growth.

Approximately 100 new affordable rental homes in Surrey are now open for veterans, first responders, legion members, families and individuals.
