British Columbia continues to have a world-class education system and this year government has taken steps to make it even better.

Through the Ministry of Advanced Education's Nurses Education Bursary, 190 students in nursing programs across British Columbia will receive a total of $380,000 in bursaries this fall.

Employers and students in northern B.C. will benefit from the expansion of trades and technology training centres at the College of New Caledonia's Prince George and Quesnel campuses, helping to meet the demand for skilled workers in B.C.

Envision a life and job skill-building program that takes a group of youth on the adventure of a lifetime - travelling across Canada to work on organic farms in Manitoba, then back to B.C. for parks and recreation job experience, all the while incorporating French language and cultural learning opportunities.

In support of government's 2011 throne speech commitment to safer schools, the Province has posted a Request for Proposals (RFP) to provide extensive face-to-face training within school districts, develop website content and provide initial support to district teams on serious incidents within districts.

Vulnerable students, small school districts, and remote and rural schools will benefit from increased funding consistency and support as a result of changes to the allocation of school district operating grants.

Overall school district operating grants and average per-pupil funding have increased again this year as B.C. continues to provide record funding levels for K-12 education.
