Indigenous Elders, families and individuals have begun moving into 50 new affordable homes with the opening of a rental housing development in Prince George.

Nathan Cullen, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Lisa Helps, mayor of Victoria, and Fred Haynes, mayor of Saanich, have released the following statement about moving forward with the citizens’ assembly to investigate potential amalgamation between the City of Victoria and the District of Saanich:

Heritage BC is announcing the results of the 150 Time Immemorial Grant Program (150 TIGP) which closed for intake at the end of December 2021. The grant program is intended to raise cultural awareness, educate people about B.C.’s colonial past and its ongoing impacts, advance reconciliation and promote inclusivity and diversity as a foundational aspect of B.C.’s future.  

People will soon begin moving into Samaritan Place, providing safe and secure homes for people experiencing homelessness in Nanaimo.

A first-of-its-kind report on homelessness will give better information to help target provincial programs and services to improve supports for people experiencing homelessness and help prevent people from becoming homeless.

New projects supported by the Northern Healthy Communities Fund will help strengthen social and emergency services in northern B.C. communities that are experiencing rapid economic growth.

The Province is responding to the crucial need for more health-care workers and early childhood educators (ECEs).
