The British Columbia government is providing about $1.4 million to support 16 community projects in the Cariboo region, Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, announced today.

Transporters of liquid petroleum products in British Columbia now will need to have provincial plans in place to manage a spill.

Effective at 5 p.m. (Pacific time) on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will again be allowed throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The Government of British Columbia is providing $25,000 to conserve historic coal mine structures in Morden Colliery Historic Provincial Park near Nanaimo.

The BC Wildfire Service would like to remind the public that Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited in the Boundary, Arrow, Kootenay Lake, Invermere and Cranbrook fire zones due to current and forecasted weather conditions, and to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
