Rich Coleman, Minister Responsible for Housing, made the following statement in response to the federal government’s announcement of new home ownership lending and taxation measures:

This week, the door opened for British Columbia’s natural gas industry to go global when the federal government provided approval for Pacific NorthWest LNG. The proposal represents up to $36 billion in new investments, thousands of jobs and an unprecedented economic boon for British Columbia’s future.

Foreign investment accounted for nearly 6% of the approximately 48,000 residential real estate transactions in British Columbia between June 10 and Aug. 31, 2016, amounting to about 8.8% of the $31 billion in residential property that changed hands, according to the latest real estate transaction data released by the provincial government.

VICTORIA - Our government remains committed to addressing the affordability and liveability challenges faced by British Columbian families.

The Government of B.C. is committing $500 million to ensure more British Columbian families have access to affordable rental housing, the largest housing investment in a single year by any province in Canada.

Students need to connect with the skills required in our changing world – and two Ministry of Education programs aim to do just that by helping school districts connect kids with  opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services is inviting British Columbians to share their priorities for the next provincial budget with the release of the Budget 2017 Consultation Paper.

The Province and the Langley school district are tackling rapid community growth and increasing student enrolment with more than $67 million to create more seats, classrooms and a new school for students and families in the Willoughby Slope area.
