Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, have issued the following joint statement regarding updates on the COVID-19 response in British Columbia:

Work on Highway 14 and Otter Point Road in Sooke is wrapping up, making travel safer and easier for people driving, cycling, walking and using transit in the area.

Drivers are reminded that winter tire regulations remain in place until April 30, 2021, on many highways to account for early spring snowfall.

Preliminary in-river work began in February 2021 on the new toll-free Pattullo Bridge replacement.

The B.C. government is providing an additional $1.87 million to assist more businesses that hold eligible tenures for fishing and hunting lodges, guest ranches, ecotourism lodges, seasonal campgrounds and other commercial recreation operators during the COVID-19 pandemic.

People looking to enjoy the outdoors will benefit from significant upgrades made to the Cowichan Valley Trail, following a culvert failure that occurred in 2020.  

A one-year extension to the BC Bus North service has been granted, meaning people who live and work in northern British Columbia can continue to rely on inter-city bus service.

The Province is helping communities bring crucial improvements to regional airports with a boost in funding as part of B.C.’s COVID-19 economic recovery plan and B.C. Air Access Program grants.
