Winter weather is quickly approaching, and the ministry would like to remind motorists that B.C.’s winter tire rules kick in as of tomorrow – Thursday, Oct. 1.

Work has begun on $9.1 million worth of highway improvements that will benefit drivers, cyclists and pedestrians along Highway 14 in and around Sooke as part of a partnership between the Province and the District of Sooke.

Temporary safety measures restricting access to the parking lot at Sombrio Beach will be in effect over the Victoria Day long weekend to discourage illegal activities, which have taken place in past years.

The Government of British Columbia is investing $5 million this year for more than 50 projects in communities throughout B.C. that will improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists on provincial highways and roads.
