The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development and Cook’s Ferry Indian Band plan to conduct a prescribed burn on the Shaniken 3 Indian Reserve, located southwest of the community of Spences Bridge.

On the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, an Asian giant hornet’s (vespa mandarinia) nest was located in the ground in the Robin’s Park area in south Nanaimo and destroyed.
