A new woodlot licence available near Gold River will increase forestry opportunities for small operators. The woodlot includes 740 hectares of Crown land near Hisnit Inlet, approximately 30 kilometres west of Gold River, and has a proposed allowable annual cut of 3,000 cubic metres.

As part of Premier Christy Clark's BC Jobs and Trade Mission, Minister Steve Thomson and delegates on the forestry portion of the mission toured the Songjiang townhouse project, outside Shanghai. Minister Thomson is visiting both China and Japan during the mission to continue to expand B.C.'s lumber exports overseas.
