Rachna Singh, Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives, has released the following statement to mark Sikh Heritage Month:

The Province is working with the City of Prince George on a proposal to deliver an additional 50 safe and supportive homes for people experiencing homelessness.

The Province, through BC Housing, has purchased a building with about 70 new temporary indoor shelter spaces for people experiencing homelessness in Victoria.

A wave of connectivity investments this year will bring improved internet performance and reliability to people living in many of B.C.’s coastal communities.

People experiencing homelessness will have a safe and secure place to call home with 19 new supportive homes opening in the Village of Queen Charlotte (Daajing Giids).

The Province, in partnership with the City of Victoria, is moving forward with four new supportive housing projects that will deliver up to 192 permanent homes with 24/7 support for people experiencing homelessness.

The Province and the City of Victoria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to end current homeless encampments and help prevent encampments in the future.

Regional districts in B.C. will receive $10 million to support local services and operations, building on the historic COVID-19 relief and recovery supports provided to communities.

Forty-nine people will have a safe and secure place to call home with a new supportive housing project opening in Kelowna.
