Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Peter Fassbender, Minister of Community, Sport, and Cultural Development and Minister Responsible for TransLink, issued the following statement regarding recent meetings with the federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities:

Government is taking action to ensure that everyone who holds a BC Bus Pass will continue to have access to public transit systems across the province now that TransLink is closing its fare gates.

As part of the public-safety funding announced in the 2016 provincial budget, the Province is committing $16.6 million toward a flood mitigation project in Richmond that will upgrade multiple pump stations.

In advance of the upcoming Easter long weekend, the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure is encouraging everyone to check DriveBC.ca before they head out on their travels.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will be conducting rehabilitation work on the  Highway 1 Valleyview overpass in Kamloops, beginning March 29, for five weeks.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone has issued the following statement on the appointment of Barry Penner, QC as the new ICBC board chair, beginning March 31, 2016:

The Capital Regional District (CRD) and the Province of British Columbia have supported the establishment of a new regional emergency management partnership that will enhance emergency management activity across the Capital Region.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has begun planning work to four-lane Highway 1 and to install a median barrier from the Leigh Road interchange to Goldstream Park, representing a further two kilometres of lane widening.
