The Province is providing $190,000 to communities throughout British Columbia to encourage residents to replace their old wood stoves with cleaner burning models.

Environment Minister Mary Polak congratulated three award winners from British Columbia on their significant contributions to brownfield redevelopment in the province.

Effective at noon on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, open fires will once again be allowed throughout the Cariboo Fire Centre's jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Current weather conditions make it safer for private landowners, Wildfire Management Branch personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

Environment Minister Mary Polak and Natural Gas Development Minister Rich Coleman have issued an Environmental Assessment Certificate to Coastal GasLink Pipeline Ltd. for the Coastal GasLink Pipeline project, which is located in northern B.C., starting near Dawson Creek and ending in Kitimat.

The ministries of Justice and Environment this afternoon issued the following update on the Province’s efforts to support the federal government’s response to a potential marine incident off the western coast of Haida Gwaii.

The Province will review Metro Vancouver’s solid waste management plan to determine the most-effective way to achieve waste diversion in the region.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15, open fires will once again be permitted in all fire zones within the Kamloops Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
