Seventy-four local and First-Nations-led projects to help plan and build safe, inclusive active transportation connections are moving forward in communities around the province.

People in communities throughout B.C. will have more opportunities to choose walking, biking and other sustainable travel options as this year’s Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants program opens for applications.

All four phases of the Lower Lynn Improvements Project are complete, providing improved traffic flow and better active transportation options for more than 120,000 daily commuters.

More than 6,000 students in the Capital Region, Kelowna area, West Kootenays, and the South Coast will learn cycling skills and safety over the coming weeks as the fourth season of Everyone Rides Grades 4-5 begins.

Transit users travelling through the peninsula communities will soon enjoy a faster commute as work begins on new lanes so buses can jump the queue at Mount Newton Cross Road and the Pat Bay Highway (Highway 17).

Students in grades 4 and 5 will learn biking skills and safety awareness at participating schools in Greater Victoria and along the South Coast as the fall session of Everyone Rides Grades 4-5 gets underway.

People in communities throughout B.C. will soon benefit from better cycling, pedestrian and other active-transportation infrastructure that will safely connect neighbourhoods to parks, schools and town centres.
