David Eby, Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing, and Melanie Mark, MLA for Vancouver-Mount Pleasant, have released the following statement regarding Grace Seniors Home at 333 East Pender St. in Vancouver:

Provincial awards have been presented to four community leaders and a police officer to acknowledge their contributions to community safety, healing and prevention of victimization in British Columbia.

Five B.C. multicultural champions were recognized Nov. 18, 2016, before friends, family and their peers at the seventh British Columbia Multicultural Awards. The awards recognize British Columbians whose exceptional work helps bring diverse cultures together by embracing diversity and promoting multiculturalism.

Premier Christy Clark, Minister Responsible for Multiculturalism Teresa Wat and community leaders gathered at Vancouver’s Mountain View Cemetery to honour Chinese ancestors and the community for their contributions to British Columbia as part of a Qingming Festival ceremony.

The B.C. government and the City of Vancouver are working together to identify ways to help seniors while sustaining Chinatown’s heritage for future generations.

An advisory council with a wide range of expertise and background will support and advise government on how to implement recommendations made in the Chinese Historical Wrongs Consultation Final Report.

British Columbia has signed a five-year agreement with Shanghai's Pudong District to promote wood-frame construction and B.C. wood products to meet the Chinese district's needs for energy-efficient, low-carbon buildings.
