Skilled trades students in the Peace River South, Peace River North and Fort Nelson school districts will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.

A new bridge is being planned to replace the drainage culverts at the 8th Street crossing of Dawson Creek.

The City of Dawson Creek will receive $83,294 in BikeBC funding this year for the 10th Street multi-use path extension.

Building on the economic benefits and jobs created by getting to yes on major projects and provincial investments in infrastructure, Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier announced immediate investments and a long-term action plan outlined in B.C.’s rural economic development strategy that will create jobs and economic opportunities in the Peace River region.

Students, teachers and staff at Dawson Creek Secondary school in the Peace River South school district will benefit from $300,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Rolla Road (known locally as Snake Pit Road) has now re-opened with the completion of a temporary bridge replacement over the road.

Students and families throughout B.C. will soon have access to expanded and more affordable transportation options thanks to $14.7 million, under the new Student Transportation Fund.

Aboriginal student learning, success and well-being are the focus of the third Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement signed between the Ministry of Education, the Peace River South school district (SD 59) and the local Aboriginal community.
