- A news release issued by the Okanagan Nation Alliance on Oct. 25, left the impression that the B.C. Supreme Court had "tossed" the Province's claim in a long ongoing legal dispute with regard to logging that occurred in 1999.
- In fact, both the Province and the Okanagan Indian Band agreed to the dismissal of the first phase of the trial which dealt primarily with the validity of a 1999 stop work order.
- The issue of Aboriginal title is still before the courts and a trial date has yet to be set.
- It is always the Province's preference to achieve reconciliation through negotiation when possible.
