Honourable Ravi Parmar

Ravi Parmar is the MLA for Langford-Highlands, serving as British Columbia’s Minister of Forests and Deputy Government House Leader.

He was first elected in a byelection in 2023 to succeed former premier John Horgan in the riding of Langford-Juan de Fuca. He was re-elected in 2024 as MLA for the new riding of Langford-Highlands.

At the time of his appointment, Ravi became one of the youngest people in British Columbia’s history to serve in cabinet. He is currently the youngest MLA in the B.C. legislature.

He specifically requested the forestry portfolio from Premier David Eby, with a clear focus on restoring confidence in the sector, building a stronger and more robust forestry economy, and ensuring forestry workers and their families continue to have good paying jobs that will allow them to thrive for generations to come. His work is centred on stabilizing a historically boom-and-bust industry, advancing reconciliation with First Nations and positioning B.C. as a global leader in sustainable forestry.

In addition to his ministerial role, Ravi has served as chair of the Council of Canadian Forest Ministers, leading collaboration with his ministerial counterparts across Canada to strengthen forestry communities, promote value-added manufacturing and safeguard forest ecosystems. This was done from a “Team Canada” approach, recognizing the future of Canada’s forestry sector requires government co-operation and co-ordination from coast to coast to coast.

Born and raised in Langford, Ravi’s roots in the Westshore run deep. As the son of hard-working immigrant parents, he grew up with a deep respect for public services, good jobs and the value of strong communities. Today, he continues to call Langford home. His work as MLA is guided by a commitment to delivering opportunity, prosperity and a future of certainty for the people and places that shaped him.
