Public-minded citizens knowledgeable about property appraisal and real estate values can serve their community by becoming a member of the B.C. Property Assessment Review Panel.
The Property Assessment Review Panel investigates and adjudicates citizens' complaints regarding the assessed value, classification and/or exemptions assigned to property by BC Assessment. Each panel consists of three members with one designated as chair. Panel members serve on a part-time basis and must be available to attend hearings scheduled during the annual assessment review period from Feb. 1 to March 15. Positions are paid, and initial appointments are typically for a two-year period. Some training is required and provided.
Panel members are needed for several communities, including: Clearwater, Dease Lake, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Golden-Invermere, Hagensborg, Haida Gwaii, Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, Penticton, Port Alberni-Tofino, Powell River, Princeton, Revelstoke, Saltspring Island, Sparwood-Fernie, Surrey, Trail-Castlegar and Williams Lake.
