British Columbians are being invited to participate in a new online survey on the harmonized sales tax.

The call for feedback is an important part of the recently announced public engagement process, as government looks closely at the options to improve the HST and the consequences of a return to the PST and GST system.

The survey provides taxpayers with an opportunity to communicate their views directly to government and asks a range of questions on measures to improve the HST.

The survey is online at: http://www.HSTinBC.ca/survey

On April 14, the B.C. government announced the Talking Taxes public engagement process to expand the dialogue with British Columbians on how to improve the HST in the lead-up to this summer's referendum. Tele-town halls are being hosted for communities across the province.

The government previously announced British Columbians will be voting in a referendum on the HST earlier than initially planned. Ballots will be mailed in June and must be returned to Elections BC or a Service BC office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011.

More information on the process can be found at: http://www.hstinbc.ca
