After completing its technical analysis of the Victoria International Marina application, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations has offered a tenure to Community Marine Concepts to use a provincial water lot within Victoria Harbour for the purpose of a marina.
Initially, a two-year licence of occupation will be offered to the proponent, which will remain in place until construction is complete and a site survey has been obtained. After construction, a 45-year lease will be offered.
The Province worked closely with federal and municipal governments and carefully reviewed the information received through the tenure application process to ensure all relevant issues were considered prior to making a decision on the application. This included reviewing federal reports, City of Victoria zoning, and public comments.
Crown land applications are reviewed under an established, administrative decision-making process to ensure the proposed use of the land does not conflict with existing local, provincial, and federal laws.
