Premier Christy Clark congratulated Prime Minister Stephen Harper on his majority government win tonight, and looks forward to a productive, working relationship with his government.

"The government has a mandate for the next four years. There are many areas where our governments can work together to create jobs and support families in British Columbia," said Premier Clark. "I look forward to continuing our constructive federal-provincial relationship."

Premier Clark also congratulated all of those elected as Members of Parliament from British Columbia, and commended those who stood for election.

"We have 36 Members of Parliament, from four political parties, who will be representing British Columbia in Ottawa. I look forward to working with all of them."

"I commend all of those British Columbians who took a step forward to seek office and have their name on the ballot in their local area. There can only be one winner, but democracy is served well by the contributions of all candidates.

"Some Members of Parliament were not successful in their re-election bids tonight, and I would like to thank them for their many contributions to public life during their time in office."

The Premier noted that the voters of Saanich-Gulf Islands elected national Green Party leader Elizabeth May.

"I congratulate Elizabeth May and Green Party supporters on their historic win tonight."
