Premier Christy Clark issued the following statement on the Stanley Cup final:
"Congratulations to the Boston Bruins on their Stanley Cup win.
"And thank you to the Vancouver Canucks for uniting British Columbians as they advanced to the finals.
"The Canucks galvanized the entire province and brought us together in a sense of community. They fought hard, worked tirelessly and gave British Columbians a rallying point.
"While the final score was disappointing, the Canucks gave the province a chance to champion a common cause. It was a tremendous time that allowed of us to come together in celebration of what unites us and provided memories that will never fade.
"Special mention to British Columbia natives Mark Recchi, who has now won his third Stanley Cup and always embodied the characteristics of a champion, and to Milan Lucic for an outstanding playoff run."
