Solicitor General Shirley Bond is urging everyone to be cautious around waterways while they are outside enjoying the natural beauty British Columbia has to offer, particularly in the Prince George, Robson Valley, McClure, Blue River and Clearwater areas.
The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a high stream-flow advisory for the Fraser River at Prince George and upstream through the Robson Valley.
There has been a large amount of rain over the past two days - up to 75mm - and river levels are rising as a result. The Fraser River at McBride is above a five-year flow and rising at one cm/hour. The Fraser River at Shelley is rising at four cm/hour.
The centre has also issued an advisory for the North Thompson River.
Over the past two days rainfall has been measured at between 30 and 60 mm and the Clearwater River and the North Thompson are rising as a result. The Clearwater River near Clearwater Station is rising at one cm/hour, while the North Thompson at Birch Island is rising at approximately two cm/hour.
