The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that Bernice Evelyn Adolph, 72, was the woman found deceased in the woods near her local home on June 30, and that she died as a result of a bear attack.
The BC Coroners Service used dental records to confirm her identity, and conducted an autopsy July 4. After reviewing the autopsy results, evidence from the scene, and expertise and information provided by conservation officers, the BC Coroners Service was able to confirm a bear attack as the cause of her death.
The regional coroner shared this information with Adolph's family members earlier today. No decision about an inquest or recommendations has been made.
