The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who died in a collision on the Malahat section of Highway 1 on Oct. 29, 2011.

The deceased is Colin Francis Grant, aged 54, of Victoria. He was riding his motorcycle southbound on the Malahat about 500 metres south of the South Shawnigan Lake turnoff at about 3:45 p.m. when his motorcycle was struck by a northbound PT cruiser that crossed the centre line. Mr. Grant was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Coroners Service is working closely with the Shawnigan Lake RCMP and the RCMP traffic reconstructionist to learn more about the factors that led to the crash.

The BC Coroners Service expresses its sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Grant.
