The BC Coroners Service has confirmed that the death of a woman at the Occupy Vancouver camp on Nov. 5 was caused by a drug overdose.

Owen Court, regional coroner for the Vancouver-Metro area, said that toxicology testing had shown that Ashlie Gough, 23, died of a mixed drug overdose of cocaine and heroin.

Ms. Gough, from Victoria, was found unresponsive in a tent at the site about 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5. Despite aggressive resuscitation efforts she was unable to be revived, and investigation has shown she had probably died some hours before she was found.

Ms. Gough's family has been informed of the cause of her death.

The investigation of the death by the Coroners Service is continuing.
