White Bear Industries Ltd. of Terrace is the successful bidder to resurface a portion of Highway 37 north of Dease Lake.
Approximately 88 km of Highway 37 will be resurfaced, from 45 km north of Dease Lake to just south of Good Hope Lake. Some sections of the highway will be reconstructed to strengthen the road base prior to resurfacing.
Work is scheduled to begin in late June, with completion at the end of August. The contract is valued at over $4.3 million.
During construction, traffic delays will be limited to 20 minutes in each direction. Motorists should check DriveBC for updates at: www.drivebc.ca

- Highway 37 was constructed in the 1960s and early 1970s.
- This section of Highway 37 is an important route for the mining industry, and is also popular with tourists travelling to northern B.C. communities and to the Yukon and Alaska.
- In 2008, improvements to Highway 37 were completed that enable year-round legal axle loading. This ensures the Highway 37 corridor meets the needs of industry, helping protect and create rural jobs.
- Following the completion of resurfacing north of Dease Lake in 2009, Highway 37 is now hard-surfaced from Dease Lake to the Yukon border.
