PORT HARDY - Upland Excavating Ltd. of Campbell River has been awarded a $1.5-million contract to rebuild the Dick Booth Culvert on Holberg Rd. west of Port Hardy. The culvert was washed out during flooding last September.
The new culvert will be larger than the original, and additional improvements will provide the public with a permanent road crossing that will prevent washouts in the future. Holberg Rd. provides access to the northern tip of Vancouver Island for both industry and local communities.
Quick Facts:
- This project will replace the temporary Acrow Bridge that was erected following a washout in September 2010.
- The Dick Booth Culvert will be constructed with a corrugated steel culvert and additional improvements will prevent washouts in the future.
