JJM Construction was recognized for successfully completing the $8.9-million project in a highly sensitive environmental area of the Lower Mainland - Burns Bog and the Fraser River - with minimal impact on the public and traffic.

The Deputy Minister's Contractor of the Year Awards recognize construction and maintenance companies that demonstrate excellence in the categories of grading, paving, bridges and structures, and highway maintenance work across the province. The ninth annual awards were hosted by the B.C. Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association on Dec. 2 in Victoria.

The award runners-up in the grading category were R 355 Enterprises Ltd. of Kelowna for work on the Highway 97/6 Vernon Intersection Improvement project, and Brentwood Enterprises Ltd. of Kamloops for work on the Highway 1 Hilltop to Balmoral project.
