The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a deceased male found in a wooded area within the city limits of Quesnel on Oct. 31, 2011. The remains were discovered by a local surveyor.
After a post-mortem investigation, and with assistance from Quesnel RCMP, the male was determined to be Quesnel resident Markham Paul Gravelle.
Markham Gravelle was about 41 years old at the time of his death. He was last known to be alive in the late summer of 2009. This man's identification was established by a combination of circumstantial evidence and DNA analysis. A thorough investigation has ruled out foul play in Mr. Gravelle's death.
Mr. Gravelle's family has been notified of the confirmed identification. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
