The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a female found deceased in the Fraser River in Mission on April 23, 2012.
After an exhaustive post-mortem investigation and with assistance from Mission RCMP detachment and the Vancouver Police Department's Missing Persons Unit, the female was determined to be Carolyn Boaks, of Vancouver.
Ms. Boaks, aged 58, was reported missing to the Vancouver Police Department on April 21, 2012, and last seen alive in Hope on April 22. Her body was recovered from the Fraser River in Mission between the Railway Bridge and Highway 11 Bridge on April 23 and transported to Royal Columbia Hospital for further forensic examination.
An autopsy has ruled out foul play.
The family of Ms. Boaks has been notified of her death. On behalf of the family, the BC Coroners Service asks that the media respect their privacy at this difficult time.
